Why a Burst Pipe Is an Emergency
When you come home to water gushing into your house from a burst pipe, it’s important to act quickly to try to limit the amount of water damage. A burst pipe is a major plumbing emergency that needs to be repaired quickly. It can start manageable with minimal water seeping out through the hole, but soon the hole will expand and can leave hundreds of gallons of water gushing into your house. This can lead to extensive water damage to your floors, walls, insulation, and even electrical system.
Signs You Should Replace Your Water Heater
Is your aging water heater failing to produce hot water? This can be a sign that you need to replace your unit. Some other symptoms to watch for can include:
- Age: If your unit is showing signs of wear and tear
- Losing efficiency: If your unit is not properly heating your water and your utility bills are increasing.
- Rust and corrosion: If there are signs of rust or corrosion on the unit.
- Leaking: If your unit is leaking. You should have a plumber look at the system and determine if the leak can be repaired or if the unit should be replaced.
- Cracks: If there are any cracks in the unit. Ask a plumber if these can be repaired or if the unit needs to be replaced.

When You Need Professional Drain Cleaning Services
When your drains start to slow down, resist the urge to pour over-the-counter solution down them to remove the clog. Instead, schedule professional drain cleaning services at your Mt. Gilead home when you notice the following signs:
- Slow drains: These can signal a variety of problems, including the early stages of a clog, pipes that have been narrowed due to mineral or grease buildup, or even improper grading of your drainage system.
- Recurring clogs: If your drains get clogged frequently, it can mean you’re not removing the entire blockage on your own and it’s time to get professional help.
- Multiple drains that are clogged at one time: Multiple clogs at once could indicate a severe blockage deep within your water line.
- Foul odor: This could signal a minor problem, like food that is trapped inside your drain, or a major issue with your sewer line. If you smell bad odors coming from your drains, call a plumber to inspect the issue to determine the cause.
- Flooding: A sewage backup can be one of the most serious issues associated with a clog. If you notice flooding in your basement or near a floor drain, it could indicate a blockage and it may just be a matter of time before the drain stops working completely and you end up with contaminated water all over your floor.

Pride Plumbing came out and rebuilt, tested, and recertified a leaking Apollo RPLF4A reduced pressure zone (RPZ) backflow. After shutting off the water, we removed and replaced the unit's cap, check valve #1, check valve #2, and all rubber O-rings and gaskets and rebuilt the relief valve. Once they were all replaced and lubricated, we reassembled the backflow, turned the water back on, and checked for leaks. We tested the RPZ assembly and it passed inspection. Pride Plumbing was called out for a leaking toilet. Our inspection found that it was leaking from its tank to bowl bolts which were loose. We tightened the bolts, ensured that the leak had stopped, and corrected the issue.

Pride Plumbing came out and replaced a rusted and leaking 40-gallon electric Whirlpool water heater with a new 40-gallon electric Rheem PROE40-M2-RH95 model. First, after disconnecting its electrical connections and inlet and outlet water lines, we removed and disposed of the old water heater. Then we installed water heater pads, the new water heater, a thermal expansion tank, ball water shut-off valves, PEX and stainless steel water supply lines to the water heater connectors, a brass drain valve, and wired up the electrical connections to the new water heater. Finally, we bled the air out of the water lines, ensured that the unit’s temperature and pressure (T&P) relief valve was properly vented, and set the unit to its appropriate operating temperature.

Pride Plumbing came out, and after cutting an access in the wall, replaced a leaking three handle bathtub/shower faucet valve with a new Delta R10000-UNBX rough-in valve; added a Delta T13220 chrome trim kit (replacing the shower head, valve cover and handle, overflow cover, and downspout push button diverter); converted the valve's copper above-floor hot and cold water supply lines to PEX piping adding ProPress fittings - tying them into the home's existing copper main water lines; and installed a plastic plumbing access panel over the hole we cut in the wall.

Pride Plumbing came out and replaced a washing machine’s boiler drains (this included cutting out and replacing the boiler drains with new ones and replacing short sections of their copper hot and cold water supply lines coming up through the floor with new PEX piping and fittings). We also provided a cost estimate to 1) repipe and replace the water supply lines under the house in the crawlspace, going to the fixtures in the kitchen (sink, dishwasher, and ice maker), the washing machine (installing new hot and cold boiler drains), and two bathrooms (sinks, toilets, and bathtubs/showers), with new PEX piping and fittings; 2) repipe and replace the drain lines in the crawlspace, going to the fixtures in the kitchen (sink and dishwasher), the washing machine (installing a new washer box), and two bathrooms (sinks, toilets, and bathtubs/showers), with new PVC piping; installing new fittings and supports under the house for each fixture; and 3) replace the washing machine's plastic washer o

Pride Plumbing was called out for a water leak underneath an open garage. After arriving, we went underneath the house but our inspection did not find anything of concern as all the pipes and joints looked well put together and fairly new. Also, there were no wet spots, signs of leaks, or cracked pipes that we could see. We then had the customer run water for around ten minutes but were unable to recreate the leak in the garage. Finally, we checked the water meter to ensure there wasn’t a leak on the water lines, which there was not. It was our belief that the issue was most likely caused by rain blowing in or something of a similar nature. We advised the customer to keep an eye on the situation and contact us if it became more evident what was causing the leak.

Pride Plumbing came out and: 1) trenched a ditch from an existing water meter to the house to expose and remove the outside main water supply line; 2) installed a new 1-inch black roll and PEX outside main water supply line from the water meter to the house along with installing tracer wire; 3) connected the new water line to an existing water line connection under the house and installed a ball valve main water cut off in the crawlspace; 4) installed a new pressure reducing valve (PRV), ball water shutoff valve, and check valve at the water meter in the meter box; 5) tested the new water line for leaks and working order; and 6) backfilled and tamped the ditch after the work was completed and approved by the county’s inspection department.

Pride Plumbing came out and provided a cost estimate to replace a leaking outside hose bib spigot with a new Woodford frost-free model along with tying it into the existing main water supply line underneath the home with new PEX piping and fittings.

Pride Plumbing responded to a sewage backup in the home. After inspecting, we found the septic tank full. We called in our septic pumping truck (the customer had already uncovered the septic tank), removed its lid, pumped it out, cleaned the tank’s filter, ensured proper drainage and flushing, reset the lid, and covered the tank back up.

Pride Plumbing was called out for a clogged Kohler toilet. After pulling the toilet, we used a sewer machine down through the toilet's flange and cleared the blockage - we discovered roots in the outside main sewer septic drain line. After replacing the toilet bowl's wax ring gasket and closet bolts, we reset the toilet and tested it. We provided a cost estimate to locate and camera the drain line in order to determine the extent of the root damage.

Pride Plumbing came out and provided a cost estimate to replace an offset toilet flange. This would require us to pull the toilet and jackhammer the concrete from around the toilet flange; remove and replace the offset toilet flange; install new concrete around the new flange; after the concrete has set, install a new wax ring gasket and mounting bolts to the flange and reset the toilet; and test for leaks and proper operation of the toilet. We also provided a cost estimate to install a new cleanout cap on a floor drain.
